Celebrate Black cowboy history and culture at the Oakland Black Cowboy Association’s 52nd Annual Parade & Festival on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at DeFremery Park in West Oakland. Established in 1974, this beloved Oakland tradition honors the legacy and contributions of Black cowboys while bringing the community together under the theme, “Preserving Our Heritage, Inspiring Our Future.”

The parade begins at 10:00 AM, followed by a daylong festival from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM featuring live entertainment, line dancing, youth activities, pony rides, food, local vendors, community resources and more. Head to DeFremery Park, 1651 Adeline Street, Oakland, CA, for this family-friendly celebration of Black culture, Western heritage and Oakland community.

Observe SF Bay wildlife with a birding docent

Weed and plant to enhance the salt marsh biodiversity and prevent erosion on the beach bluff.

Collect trash found along the shoreline and record trash data to influence policy.

The Zero Emissions Ride & Drive is back for its third year, Friday, September 18th, 10am to 3pm, at Middle Harbor Shoreline Park. Produced by the Harbor Trucking Association and CALSTART, this free community event opens the doors on zero-emission trucking and includes a complimentary lunch. Walk the lot, climb into the cab, and see the technology moving goods through our port cleaner and quieter than ever. The highlight: hands-on test drives, so you can experience zero-emission power for yourself. Whether you work in freight, care about air quality in West Oakland, or just love big trucks, this one's for you.
